CAAMP Ogden Testimonials

Ms. Carr

Robert Taylor Elementary

5th grade teacher

“CAAMP Ogden Club has brought many new opportunities to the fifth grade students at Robert Taylor. The program, by design, teaches leadership skills, social skills, fitness, and provides nutrition activities and information for healthy eating habits. Above all, a focus on reading and writing activities is provided through the use of a series of chapter books. Since the program has started, the students have increased their own motivation to read. As a result, student achievement in reading continues to rise. I do feel that this program has helped many students become more responsible and take an active role in their learning.”

Mr. Morrow

Robert Taylor Elementary

5th grade teacher

“I have seen dramatic improvement in the comprehension of the assigned text from those students that have attended CAAMP Ogden Club. The review of the text material from CAAMP Ogden Club and discussions has really been apparent when students come back to class to converse about the assigned reading.”

“In regards to my students, I love that CAAMP Ogden incorporates reading, but more importantly, the leadership and life skills integrated into the CAAMP Ogden program helps to prepare them for life.”

Dena Davenport

Robert Taylor Elementary

5th grade teacher

“CAAMP Ogden encourages our students to spend time reading outside of the school day. It also gives them additional time participating in group physical activities. I will continue to recommend CAAMP Ogden to my fifth grade students.”

Cindy Heck-Johnson

Robert Taylor Elementary

4th grade team leader

“Fourth grade teachers and parents of these students are noticing substantial growth in the students who participate in the CAAMP Ogden program. It’s easy to justify this success when we see students are reading more and more books, way beyond what they are required to and truly developing a love of reading. More than that, we are also noticing some intrinsic accomplishments tat go far beyond the classroom and are changing their lives for the better. We are seeing students mature; handle stress and anger without acting on it; cooling down instead of fighting and walking taller with confidence. CAAMP Ogden is leaving footprints in our students’ lives that will help academically and beyond the classroom. We truly appreciate the efforts and success of this program!!!”

“I think CAAMP Ogden Club has helped my students realize that reading can be an enjoyable pastime. I have noticed that they are more eager to spend free time during the school day reading the Rick Riordan books. This series is a good choice for group reading discussions. Hopefully they will get “hooked” and read the rest of the books even when CAAMP Ogden is over!”

“The therapeutic exercise program (F.I.T.) has benefited our youth in several ways -they express that they are more relaxed, able to focus better, and that the physical fitness has helped several lose weight. We observed that they are more focused and they have learned the discipline of staying on a routine to achieve a goal. Additionally, they enjoy the program and are constantly requesting to participate again.”

“My son’s involvement in C.A.A.M.P. Kids Care has been an amazing journey of growth and discovery. His experiences working with other children in the group allowed them to accomplish many goals as a team. Together, they were able to provide much needed goods and services to children less fortunate in our area. Not only have these experiences been truly rewarding, they have instilled in my son a sense of pride for a job well done and a commitment to continue to strive to make the community a better place for everyone.”

“Thank you for continuing to make the Community Athletic Academic Mentoring Program (CAAMP Ogden) available for fourth and fifth grade students at Robert Taylor Elementary. Combining the literacy and athletic components helps our students to learn that they need to be a “complete” individual. Mentally and physically fit. The students at Robert Taylor Elementary take the Discover Education Launch Assessment four times a year In both reading and math. All of the CAAMP Ogden participants made at least “Average” growth between the first and second tests, and between the second and third tests in reading. One fourth grade participant made “Above Average” growth between the first and second tests in reading. One fourth grade participant made “Above Average” growth between the second and third tests in reading. All of the fourth grade participants made at least “Average” growth in math between the first and second tests in math. One fourth grade participant made “Below Average” growth in math between the second and third tests in math. One fifth grade participant made “Above Average” growth in math between both the first and second, and second and third tests in math. Two fifth grade participants made “Below Average” growth in math between the first and second math tests. One fifth grade participant made “Below Average” growth in math between the second and third math tests. The CAAMP Ogden focus on literacy is paying off for Robert Taylor students! “My daughter Gabrielle Wittman has been involved with the Ogden foundation C.A.A.M.P. Kids Care for two seasons. She has been on the board as the historian for both seasons. I believe this has impacted her in many positive ways. She has become more responsible knowing she has a job to do for the charity every month. She makes sure it gets done each month. It has also opened her eyes to what other people go through in the world. With the foundation they have adopted families each holiday season and Title 1 schools. The kids raise money and have to go out and get donations to help out with these families and schools. My daughter stated that it feels really good to be able to give back to people who need help. She enjoys this and has a passion for helping others.”

“I love C.A.A.M.P. Ogden, it is so much fun. I specially like the jump rope competition. I also like the free books. Oh what I like most of all, is Miss Stacy and all of her hard work. I wish C.A.A.M.P. Ogden was more than once a week.”

“Here are five reasons I like C.A.A.M.P. Ogden. One reason is the activities are fun. Another reason is we stay active. We could exercise and even play. I also love how we get to read and summarize what we read. I like how we get refreshments. I like the prizes too!”

“I love C.A.A.M.P. Ogden. I cannot wait to go today. I absolutely love it when we have contests. I also like how we go inside and talk about the book, eat snacks, and relax after all that exercise. It is all quite fun when we jump in different patterns over the ladder. Yet my favorite of them all is when I get to go inside and we can eat delicious snacks as we read the book. Like I said before, I simply cannot wait to go to C.A.A.M.P. Ogden.”

“C.A.A.M.P. Ogden is a really cool experience that kid should join if all they want to do is sit around all day and have fun. We do fun activities like contests, exercise warm-ups, and relay races. We also read at the end of the day. It really does help you in reading and fitness. C.A.A.M.P. Ogden provides food and water as well. I think everyone should sign up for C.A.A.M.P. Ogden, it can really help you a lot!”

“I love C.A.A.M.P. Ogden! It is especially great for me because we read; and I am a poor reader. So I really can get better. I love reading and Rick Riordan is my favorite author. I love reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians, we also read Lightning Thief. Now we are planning on finishing the series.”

The kids in the program had fun, learned about themselves and got the opportunity to try things they otherwise may have never experienced.”

“I only have good things to say about this program. My daughter wasn’t too sure about doing this but after the first day, she loved it. She was a lot more excited about the exercise, especially being to do them with other kids. I believe this was a great way to keep up with exercise. We loved this program!”

“Adopt-A-Family” Testimonials

Heather M.

My name is Heather, I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. We have our grandsons full time. This year we were hit with a loss of jobs, not knowing what we were going to do next. Having to learn how to use powdered milk from the food banks. The holidays came up so fast, still, both out of work, and these boys have had a rough year as kids. Starting school the 1st year online, to not going to the parks anymore. Thank you to this foundation and adopt a family, these little baby boys had a Christmas, the smiles so big on their little faces was the best Christmas present I ever had in my life. I also was gifted some amazing shoes that I love!!! The kids got a ton of new clothes which helps a lot. Also, they were giving a gift card for a birthday party at SeaQuest, the baby turned 1 on Dec. 26th, 2020, and amazingly enough, they let us schedule a little party. The kids got to leave the house finally. It was totally safe, and socially distanced. Sea Quest did amazing.  I thank you again, more than words can ever express. Cards will be mailed soon the boys made them for you guys. You guys were our 2020 Heros.
THANK YOU !!

Adopt-A-Family allowed my family to have a nice Christmas and I was able to take my boys out to have some fun. This event it gave me relief because I knew my kids were going to have presents to open on Christmas Day, and I must admit that I cried. We were treated like family making it very comfortable for me and my kids, and I am very grateful for this great experience.

Sierra H

If it wasn’t for the Community Outreach Medical Center and the staff my kids wouldn’t have had a Christmas. It was life-changing for us and the kids. You guys made a big impact on us for blessing us while we were struggling dealing with other problems, you really made our holiday special.

Tyrena H

Adopt-A-Family helped me give my child a nice Christmas, from toys to gift cards and being able to put food on our table for the holidays. The most impactful takeaway for me was seeing my son’s smile from ear to ear and being a part of something so amazing. It is holiday we will never forget. Thank you!
